Information and Communication Technologies

We believe that Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) play a crucial role in improving global well-being. With their ability to drive productivity and to connect less privileged communities to new markets and opportunities, ICTs have the potential to drive meaningful change where it is most needed. Recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) further enhance this potential, offering powerful tools to support our goals by optimising processes, improving decision-making, and fostering innovation across sectors.

To meet our goals, we develop and offer software development solutions from simple websites to custom applications, in domains such as decision support systems, geographical information systems, location-based services, collective intelligence platforms and social networks, and robotics. Specific ICT solutions we have developed include:

  • Environmental information systems. We co-developed TESS (Transactional Environmental Support System), which enables policy makers to integrate local knowledge into their decision-making, while guiding and encouraging local activities that maintain and restore biodiversity and ecosystem services. Tero is supporting the implementation of TESS in Naturalliance.
  • Digital preservation. We offer state-of-the-art web archiving solutions for Memory Institutions, as well as for private companies and individuals that would like to maintain a digital record for long periods.
  • Location-based services. We support companies, public administrations, and individuals to provide or access location-specific information online. We do this by offering our in-house developed generic cloud-based location service architecture, capable of providing personalised services to entities such as human users, internet-of-things sensors and devices, robotic assistants and virtual entities, in a variety of business domains and application contexts.
  • ICT for the elderly. We co-developed an IT platform to integrate innovative state-of-the-art cognitive exercises with physical activity, in the context of the Long Lasting Memories project. Tero is partnering with the Lab of Medical Physics, Medical School, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for the provision of the developed solution.
